The parents of IDF Cpl. Noa Marciano, 19, who was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, announced on Wednesday that their daughter was murdered by a physician at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Marciano was taken from the Nahal Oz military base and abducted into the Gaza Strip along with more than 250 other hostages on Oct. 7 when Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, killing at least 1,200.

The soldier had served as a lookout in a predominantly female military unit that was tasked with monitoring the Gaza border. The terrorists also killed dozens of soldiers while invading the IDF base.

“They chose to murder her instead of taking care of her. It was a doctor who did it, in a hospital. She was injured by air force bombings and was taken to Shifa,” her parents said.

In November, Hamas released a propaganda video showing Marciano alive as a hostage. However, the terror group later claimed that she was killed in an Israeli airstrike and published a video clip allegedly showing her corpse.

At the time, Israel Defense Forces confirmed that Marciano died in captivity in Gaza and blasted Hamas for the video.

“Our hearts go out to the Marciano family; their daughter, Noa, was brutally kidnapped by the terrorist organization Hamas. The IDF, together with all the institutions, will continue to accompany the Marciano family, as well as all the families of the kidnapped and missing,” the Israeli military stated.

An IDF unit eventually found Marciano’s body in a building close to the Shifa Hospital complex.

“According to the medical findings, Noa was kidnapped to a hiding place near Shifa, and during IDF attacks on the area, the Hamas terrorist who was holding her was killed. Noa was injured, but not a life-threatening injury,” IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari announced at the time.

After analyzing the footage, experts indicated Marciano's injuries did not align with those typically sustained in airstrikes.

“The observed wounds appear more consistent with bullet injuries, and there is also an indication that she may have suffered from injuries related to a fall from a height.”

In November, Marciano’s mother, Adi, spoke about the difficulty for the family to accept her death.

“It’s hard to talk about Noa in the past tense,” she said.

“Noa is a girl of light and love, with kind eyes that tell a story of giving, of a smile that is never-ending. The fight for Noa and her return is not over. There is no grave. They told me to sit shiva, and we didn’t even have the funeral that she deserved.”

There are still at least 130 hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. Israeli officials estimate that at least 30 of the remaining hostages are no longer alive. In Cairo, Egypt, the ongoing Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas leaders for a deal to release the hostages have so far been unsuccessful.

Most Israelis prioritize the release of the remaining hostages over an IDF operation against Hamas in Rafah, according to a fresh poll released by the Israel Democracy Institute.
