65 million digital files, 500,000 documents found in Gaza as part of IDF intel gathering on Hamas
The Israeli army revealed that it has collected 65 million digital files and 500,000 documents from inside the Gaza Strip so far. The information is being used to locate and dismantle Hamas’ terror infrastructure and collect intelligence on the organization’s leaders.
The investigatory work is being done by the IDF's Intelligence and Technical Booty Collection Unit (Amshat), whose main task is to extract intelligence from the loot captured by the fighting forces and produce operational implications to improve the fighting ability of the ground troops.
One example is the recent find of a map of tunnel shafts captured by soldiers of the 252nd Division in the home of a commander in the Hamas terror organization's Beit Hanoun Battalion.
The legend for the map was found in another home, thus enabling Amshat to produce a map, giving the IDF greater access to the tunnel network and enhancing the safety of the troops.
