Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden's foreign policy adviser gave credit to Donald Trump for the peace agreement he brokered between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“It’s good for the region, it’s good for Israel, it’s good for peace,” Jake Sullivan said during an interview on the Yahoo News podcast “Skullduggery.”
Sullivan said much of the credit should go to the Obama administration, however, for laying the groundwork for such a deal.
“You’re going to see him tout this with a classic Trumpian oversell, so bottom line we should praise this deal for what it is but not for more than what it is,” Sullivan said. “It’s been a long time coming. This is not a bolt out of the blue.”
Many Democrats were invited to the signing ceremony scheduled to take place today, according to a senior administration official. The Hill reported that at least some Democrats would attend, but did not specify how many or who exactly would show up.
