Israeli jets attack Iran terror proxy base in Iraq’s Babylon Province

Screenshot of footage released on social media on early Saturday (April 20) shows huge explosions at a military base belonging to Iraq’s Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Babylon, south of Baghdad.

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — A U.S. intelligence source confirmed to ALL ISRAEL NEWS that Israel has just attacked and severely damaged a base in Iraq used by an Iranian terror proxy militia.

Within the last few hours, Israeli fighter jets — believed to be F35 stealth jets — blew up a base used by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), an Iranian-financed proxy terror group.

The PMF base is located in the province of Babylon, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

One member of the PMF was killed in the strike and at least eight others were wounded, according to Reuters news agency.

The attack comes one day after the IDF struck a major Iranian military base in the Iranian province of Isfahan in retaliation for Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel last Sunday, using at least 320 missiles and drones.

If the IDF was, in fact, responsible for the attack, it strongly suggests that Israeli leaders are accelerating their attacks on Iranian forces and proxy terror groups in the region.

“The PMF includes Iran-backed groups which, operating under the banner of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, have attacked U.S. troops in the region and targeted Israel since the eruption of the Gaza war, declaring support for the Palestinians,” Reuters noted.

“Their attacks on U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq stopped in early February after a drone strike killed three U.S. soldiers in Jordan, prompting heavy U.S. airstrikes in Iraq and Syria.”

The U.S. has officially denied that American military forces were involved in striking the PMF base.
